The Situation

Near the end of 2020, a mid-sized San Diego law firm was splitting up. As employees began to leave for other organizations, a group coalesced that decided to take things in a new and exciting direction—building out a firm of their own. As Kazmarek Technology Solutions was already assisting with the dissolution of the existing firm, maintaining continuity in support of the new venture seemed like a natural fit.

Start with a blank canvas

Constituting a law firm out of whole cloth is a substantial undertaking. We knew the needs of the firm, and had spent years avoiding potential pitfalls. We created a Microsoft 365 tenant, and helped secure a domain name.

Add in the detail

Next, KTS helped fill the need for office space, assisting with the move and procuring needed networking equipment, including VPN capabilities that allowed the team the flexibility to work from wherever they chose. This idea carried over into the selection and configuration of a cloud-hosted phone system, allowing the firm to remain in touch anywhere with an internet connection.

Fill in any gaps

Since KTS was engaged from the beginning, environmental security figured into any infrastructure decision. We deployed next-gen antivirus and implemented multi-factor authentication for their M365 tenant and VPN. A password manager was also configured to minimize the risk of credential compromise.

The Results
