The End of an Era: Windows 10
Be sure to mark your calendars! Microsoft plans to pull the plug on the widely used Windows 10 operating system on October 14, 2025. This end of life urges millions of users to make the switch over to Windows 11 to maintain functionality and security. With the fall date steadily approaching, we wanted to inform you what this change means.
What does “End of Life” mean?
“End of life” is a term referring to the end of support. Windows 10 will no longer receive software updates, security fixes or technical support. Although your device will continue to work after October, the lack of updates will lead to it becoming more susceptible to viruses and malware. Compatibility issues are also expected to rise as new applications or software are not expected to be designed for Windows 10. Transitioning to Windows 11 will eventually become vital for securing your data and maintaining functionality.
What is Windows 11?
Microsoft advertises Windows 11 as “the most secure Windows ever built”. The latest generation offers enhanced security covering antivirus, firewall, and internet protection intended to support any work environment. AI is in the forefront of this massive upgrade. Smart App Control uses AI to predict if apps are safe to run on Windows 11. New editing features help users edit photos, videos and more. Copilot, a chat-based AI assistant, will also be featured on the new operating system to help users improve their workflow.
