The Importance of Backups
In our digital world, business depends on computers and on data availability. As our dependence on digital data increases, so does our risk. The question is not whether you will experience an incident resulting in data loss, but when you will experience such a loss. Statistics suggest that 6% of all PCs will experience a disaster that results in data loss every year. This translates to approximately 4.6 million data-loss incidents each year. You need to protect yourself and your business from data loss. The solution is constant backups. This should be a familiar reminder to any PC user, but as we all understand the importance of backups, we still fail to take action. Don’t think it can’t happen to you because it will. Hard drive recoveries are possible but often cost in excess of $3,000 and cannot guarantee what data will be available after the recovery. Take action now by developing a quick backup plan following these important guidelines:
- Backup often. Ideally, a backup should be created each time a change to data is made.
- Use an external device. Backups should be held in a device external to the PC so that any damage to the PC will not also effect the backup media. There are also online backup solutions for an affordable monthly cost.
- Test your backups. 34% of all companies fail to complete this step. Of the companies that do, 77% of them found incomplete backups or backups that failed during restoration tests. Your backup is worthless if it cannot be used to restore your data.
From your precious memories to your most critical business data, Kazmarek Technology Solutions, Inc. can develop the ideal solution for your data backup needs.

Internet Explorer Part of Automatic Updates
Beginning November 1st, Microsoft will be including Internet Explorer 7.0 as a Critical Update to Windows XP and Server 2003 systems. This means that Internet Explorer 7.0 will be automatically downloaded and installed as part of your normally scheduled automatic updates. Because of the widespread incompatibility of Internet Explorer 7 with third-party applications and websites, we do not recommend introducing Internet Explorer 7 to your business without thorough testing of its compatibility with your applications. There are ways to prevent the automatic installation of Internet Explorer and KTS can help.

What’s KTS Up To?
Want to connect to your office Microsoft Exchange server securely while out of the office using your full Outlook 2003 client, without starting up a VPN connection? RPC over HTTPS is the answer. KTS has recently installed new Exchange servers as well as configured existing Exchange servers for clients to take advantage of this greatly overlooked feature. This is especially convenient for laptop users and/or desktop home-office PCs. You can use Outlook whether you are at work, on the road, or at home. Outlook will detect the connection and adjust accordingly. If you are connected to your local network it will work like it always has, but if you are working remotely it will automatically switch to using a secure web port. No VPN software to configure and VPN licenses to buy. Let KTS assist you today!
