Issue No. 14 HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM KTS!December 2009
Kazmarek’s Holiday Tech Tips
Get Through Airport Security Faster
When it’s time to travel for the holidays, we’ve found a way to reduce security checkpoint headaches: checkpoint friendly laptop bags.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screens laptops for tampering. For most people, this requires unpacking their laptop for inspection. Last year the TSA released new rules that allow laptops to remain in a carry-on bag as long as the bag meets certain requirements. The laptop section of the bag must lay flat on the X-ray conveyor belt, and the X-ray view of the laptop must not be obstructed by other items packed in the laptop-only section. Click the image below to read the specific TSA guidelines.
There is currently a respectable selection of checkpoint friendly laptop bags available, including at Amazon.com.
Maximize Your 2009 Section 179 Tax Deduction
As 2009 comes to a close, many clients realize that they have equipment needs that must get funded by Thursday, December 31, 2009 in order for the equipment to qualify for the 2009 Section 179 tax deduction. Some are being advised to acquire the equipment they will need in Q1 2010 now in order to off-set taxable income in 2009. In fact, leased equipment also qualifies for Section 179 tax deductions (more information here). Whether you need to lease or buy computing equipment, call KTS today to get the deal closed before the end of 2009!
