Mor Furniture for Less

Since converting from small bedroom only stores to full line furniture stores in Boise, Idaho in 2000, MOR Furniture has maintained its goal to offer one of the largest selections of quality home furnishings at affordable prices. Their customer focus has been successful as they are now one of the fastest growing furniture companies in America. Today MOR Furniture has 15 showrooms and 10 warehouses all focused on bringing you "MOR furniture for Less".

Situation

As Mor Furniture continued to grow and expand, the need for a larger email database and a way to support the latest mobile phone technology was needed. Their Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server 16 GB limit, limited compatibility with mobile phones, and the outdated email web interface were driving factors to upgrade to Exchange 2003.

Solution

Based on Kazmarek Technology Solutions’ (KTS) suggestions, Mor Furniture decided to upgrade to Microsoft Exchange 2003. This allowed them a database size limit of 75GB, seamless integration with the latest mobile devices, and a much richer email web interface. To limit downtime, KTS performed a parallel mailbox migration onto a new Dell PowerEdge server running Exchange 2003. Once all mailboxes were migrated to new server, the old Exchange 2000 was decommissioned correctly from Active Directory. There was no interruption of Internet mail inbound or outbound during the migration. All DNS changes and SSL cert moving was handled by KTS. At the time, Mor owned numerous Blackberry phones, therefore, KTS installed a dedicated Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) and integrated all phones to provide mobile synchronization of email, contacts, and calendars in real-time.
